The country's most widely read African-American newspaper, the Pittsburgh Courier, introduced the "Double V" campaign for victory at home and victory abroad. FOCUSED BY FREDI FULLFranklin Frazier, the Negro Press was the "major influence in mobilizing Negroes in the struggle for their fights during World War II." Convinced that full participation in the war, including combat duty in all branches of the armed services, would help insure full rights of citizenship after the war, the Negro Press was also a major influence in mobilizing Negro support for the war. In using the press to carry on this crusade, Powell was joining a fight already in progress. with the fight against fascism in Europe: "we are against Hitler abroad and just as strongly against Hitlerism at home." (2) The organ of Powell's political crusade was The People's Voice, a militant "New Paper for the New Negro." (3) (1) Like other civil rights leaders at the time, Powell seized the opportunity to link the struggle for racial equality in the U.S. launched a propaganda crusade for freedom and justice at home. In February 1942, two months after the United States entered World War II, New York City Councilman Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Crunchy red fruits, white pepper and a whiff of fresh herbs on the palate juxtapose perfectly with the wines medium body, fresh acidity and fine tannic structure."Don't forget the whites judge the entire Negro race by our performances both on and OFF the stage!" What they are doing there is magical, pulling off the unusual feat of a Priorat that is easy-drinking as soon as you open the bottle, but will still hold up with age. With the inability to utilize any machinery, everything is done by hand and animals. The rocky soil and steep vineyards, with elevations between 300 to 600 meters, demand careful thoughtful farming. In 2013, Fredi and his friend and business partner Mark Lecha began Lectores Vini with 6 hectares in the mystical Priorat. Single-mindedly focused on his goal of making amazing wine. He's a man who "hates weekends," sleeps 4-5 hours a night and has no television. Moving from DJ'ing nightclubs to shoveling compost seemed daunting but Fredi has never been afraid of hard work. After phoning René Barbier over and over with no success, Torres just showed up on Barbier's doorstep and began his career in winemaking. One bottle of Clos Mogador 1998 changed all that. There he worked for Nike, studied audio engineering and had a successful career as a house DJ. Born in Galicia, Fredi spent most of his young life in Switzerland. It's pretty clear Fredi Torres does things his own way. Grapes: Mostly Garnacha with Carinena, Syrah, Macabeo
